Participants-primary. Those involved in the abduction party, their targets, and those who assisted the abduction party directly at some point. Names are in no particular order.

Patrick Leigh Fermor, (PLF) (aka 'Philidem' and 'Mihali')

William Stanley Moss (WSM). Not content with being in on the original operation, Billy Moss soon returned to Crete after  planning to bag himself a second general. Unfortunately it did not come off this time. See A War of Shadows.

Manolis Paterakis. Of the famous Paterakis family from Koustogerako above Sougia. Aka 'Man Friday'.

George Tyrakis. From Fourfourai in Amari. aka 'Man Thursday'

General Heinrich Kreipe (aka 'Theophilos')

Corporal Hans Frunze. Kreipe's driver and the only person who was killed during the abduction operation - much to the dismay of PLF who had planned a bloodless coup. Only reference found of this man's name is in PLF's Words of Mercury. Note: One correspondent has since advised that the name is not accurate. I now feel confident that the driver was a  Alfred Fenske (thanks to AHW)

Micky Akoumianakis . S.O.E.'s chief agent in Heraklion, lived next door to Villa Ariadne, His father, Manoli, had been the overseer for Sir Arthur Evans

Antoni Papaleonidas (aka 'Wallace Beery') with Zoidakis charged with bringing Frunze to Anogia

Kapetan Mihali Xylouris, successor to Kapetan Dramountanes in Anogia.

Father Skoulas (The Flying Priest!) Priest of Anogia.

Lieut Brian Coleman. Believed to have been the captain of ML 842 which transported Moss and party to Crete arriving 4th April 1944, and who took off the abduction party from Peristeres (Rhodakino) Beach.

Lieut Bob Bury. Leader of the S.B.S. unit carried by Brian Coleman and tasked with using force to deal with German occupying forces at the embarkation beach if necessary.

Lt Robert Alexander Logan. Skipper of ML 355, one of the Fairmile Motor Launches  (ML) which took part in the evacuation of the Kreipe abduction party. In the event appears to have played a supporting role to Skipper Brian Coleman and ML 842 on the night. ML 355 mentioned in signals for 'Operation Bricklayer'

Elias  Athanassakis. The team member who studied the Generals movements and operated the buzzer to warn of the approach of Kreipe's car.

Athanasios Bourdzalis. Andarte Kapetan.

Kostas Kephaloyannis, one of PLF's honourary god-brothers and member of Xylouris andartes.

John Houseman

John Lewis. Tom Dunbabin's wireless operator who came to assist arrange departure of abduction party.

Sandy Rendell. One of the British Liaison Officers (B.L.O.s) in Crete. Met PLF at Katharo Plateau when he parachuted into Crete. Present at landing beach on 4/4/44 when WSM came ashore.

Gregori Khanarakis. Later a god-brother of PLF

Vassili Konios, local kapetanios who is seldom mentioned but was the local guide who assisted PLF and others in meeting Moss's party near Tsoutsouros. Had a sheepfold in wooded scarps above Tsoutsouros from where he supervised secret arrivals and departures for several years.

John Stanley. A member of I.S.L.D. who was present with PLF when Moss arrived in Crete.

Kosta Kephaloyannis, an honourary go-brother of PLF and one of Mihali Xylouris's andartes.

Kiveli Sergiou. A too little known of figure outside of local circles , this lady, when only 20 years of age, acted as an interpreter for the occupying forces - but was an agent and passed on many important pieces of information to the resistance, and as, a secretary to Kreipe, details of his movements etc.
